04 Time and verbs

Tell the time, give opening hours, and use verbs in four tenses.

  1. What time is it?

    いま なんじですか？

    What time is it now?

    ごご 6じはんです。

    It's 6:30 p.m.

    2じ 30ぷんです。

    It's 2:30.

    じ = o'clock · ふん/ぷん = minutes · はん = half · ごぜん = a.m. · ごご = p.m.

    The bank is open 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

    げつようびから きんようびまでです。

    Monday to Friday.

    から = from · まで = until

  5. At what time do you …?

    なんじにVerbますか？

    What time do you (verb)?

    なんじに おきますか？

    What time do you wake up?

    6じに おきます。

    I wake up at 6.

    に marks an exact time.
