    Plainと おもいます。

    I think (that) …

    あしたは いい てんきだと おもいます。

    I think it'll be nice weather tomorrow.

    かいぎは たぶん 3じに おわると おもいます。

    I think the meeting will probably finish at 3.

    さとうさんは もう かえったと おもいます。

    I think Ms Sato has already gone home.

    Nouns and な-adjectives need だ before と: げんきだと おもいます.

    Topicに ついて どう おもいますか。

    What do you think about (topic)?

    にほんの こうつうに ついて どう おもいますか？

    What do you think about transport in Japan?

    べんりだと おもいます。

    I think it's convenient.

    わたしも そう おもいます。

    I think so too.

    わたしは そう おもいません。

    I don't think so.

  3. Quoting

    「…」と いいます ・ Plainと いいました

    say 「…」 · said that …

    ねる まえに 「おやすみなさい」と いいます。

    Before bed you say 「おやすみなさい」.

    かちょうに あした やすみたいと いいました。

    I told the section manager I want tomorrow off.

    ミラーさんは パーティーに いかないと いいました。

    Mr Miller said he isn't going to the party.

    …, right? (checking the listener agrees)

    きのうの しあいは すごかった でしょう？

    Yesterday's match was amazing, right?

    ええ、ほんとうに すごかったです。

    Yes, it really was.

    あした パーティーに くる でしょう？

    You're coming to the party tomorrow, right?

  5. Events happen

    Placeで Eventが あります。

    (Event) is held in (place).

    7がつに きょうとで おまつりが あります。

    There's a festival in Kyoto in July.

    こんばん テレビで サッカーの しあいが あります。

    There's a soccer match on TV tonight.
